In this podcast, Richard introduces some of his webinar content in this conversation with George Owen. in his webinar; 'The desire to be told Vs The value of self discovery', Richard invites us to enjoy a deeper conversation about therapeutic outcomes. What interesting things are happening when therapy succeeds. And, importantly, what interesting things are taking place when it doesn't.
Directive – Non-Directive – Co-Creative are three of the principle approaches that can be found in the vast array of methods and forms of hypnotherapy. What is the value and purpose of these approaches? How do they affect the language, form and structure of a therapy? What do clients want and what do they need, and is there a difference?
There are a lot of places where you can learn hypnosis, but it is not just about learning from different schools. The various schools can teach entirely different methods and forms, yet they are all called hypnosis and provide certificates of qualification. Is this a good thing? Is it correct, or at least true to the fundamentals of hypnosis?
I would like to suggest some thoughts and encourage a creative discussion about some of the inconsistencies in both the teaching and practice of hypnotherapy and hypnosis.
Constructive, productive, and even robust challenges to “the way things are” is how we create positive growth and development. Let us see what we can discover and what we might envision for the future!
