Treating Alcohol dependence
As a dedicated therapist, I understand your commitment in providing the best care for your clients and continuously enhancing your professional skills.
My unique webinar process is a great way to gain knowledge and insights, and to add additional resources and opportunities for you to expand your therapeutic skills.
We are all born with the disposition for addiction, be it nature, DNA and gene structure, or nurture, environmental factors, and conditioning. The brain is wired to look for addictive processes, we can see that in such terms as "oh they are a workaholic," or there obsessed with their hobby to the exclusion of everything else.
When such focus becomes a compulsion and/or an all-time consuming obsession, we call that an obsessive-compulsive process. However, this webinar will look deeply at alcohol and its harm on the human condition both biologically and psychologically.
Although we will not look specifically at brain chemistry and alcohol, in this webinar, after all, we are not neuroscientists, we are therapists, however, there is an abundance of Internet research that points to dopamine, reward pathways, tolerance and withdrawal, as well as neuroplasticity shedding light on why alcohol dependence can be a chronic and relapsing condition.
It also highlights the importance of addressing both the physical and psychological aspects of addiction in treatment approaches. This is where hypnotherapy has great value as it addresses the conscious mind. the subconscious and primal brains behavior, in reducing and or eliminating such addictions. This podcast acts as a precursor to the webinar itself.
Part one of the webinar looks at alcohol and alcohol dependence.
Part two of the webinar looks at alcohols effect on the body.
Part three of the webinar looks at interventions and therapy.
Because alcohol is sociologically acceptable it becomes insidious to treat, the slide into alcoholism is subtle and real. This webinar is designed for those beginning the slide into alcohol dependence and not in the treatment for the severe alcoholic.
